The Star Gold Coast unveils proposed plans for a world-class open-air music venue
The city’s live-music and entertainment scene is set to be taken to thrilling new heights with The Star Entertainment Group announcing proposed plans for a spectacular new open-air waterfront music venue at The Star Gold Coast, which will be capable of attracting major local and international acts.
The yet-to-be-approved entertainment venue is earmarked for a currently vacant waterfront parcel that is located across the canal from the Gold Coast Bulletin Centenary Park. The park, which underwent a $1-million revitalisation before the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, will also form a major part of the venue’s plans, with the open-air stage to be positioned and configured to enable people in the park to have views of the concerts and be part of the overall atmosphere.
The proposed outdoor entertainment venue will feature an elevated stage, portable food and beverage outlets and capacity for around 1000 to 1500 people. If approved, we can expect a curated calendar of events, from full-scale concerts by world-class acts and performers, through to family-friendly events like Christmas carols and more intimate offerings like string quartets. The exciting new proposal forms part of an impressive $2 billion-plus masterplan for The Star Gold Coast site. More than $850 million has already been committed, including the development of new luxury new hotel The Darling, the refurbishment of 596 rooms in the original hotel The Star Grand, and the establishment of a raft of new food and beverage offerings.
