Barefoot luxury – plans for a boutique hotel in the heart of Byron Bay have been revealed
Byron Bay is growing at an exponential rate. New restaurants, cafes and accommodation spots are popping up seemingly by the hour. So, we weren’t surprised (but still very excited) to learn that plans have been revealed for a new boutique hotel set in the heart of the coastal town. Designed by Plus Architecture, this impressive newcomer is one to watch.
International architecture practice Plus Architecture (The Star Gold Coast, Black Hide Steakhouse) have unveiled designs for a new luxury destination hotel in the heart of Byron Bay, delivering a first-of-its-kind premium accommodation experience. The 76-key hotel will transform the current site of The Waves Hotel on Lawson Street into an ultra-luxe sanctuary that spans four levels and 1410-sqm. Plus Architecture director Danny Juric describes the design as a “symphony of serenity,” where materials and finishes like travertine, brass, and bronze harmoniously blend to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects the region. “Inspired by the captivating elements of the nearby beach and ocean, our colour palette gracefully reflects the warmth of sand and the vibrant allure of aqua hues,” says Danny. “Through a careful integration of base colours, sand tones, and shades of blue, we have artfully woven the coolness, warmth, and texture of the beach into the very essence of the hotel’s understated grandeur, creating an oasis-like interior and remarkably sensitive architecture.”
Inside the hotel, guests will be be greeted with a large, light-filled atrium at the heart of the building. This grand space will feature a high-end restaurant, and will allows guests to reconnect and relax in a unique setting. However, it’s the hotel’s rooftop area that takes things to the next level (quite literally). Boasting the largest rooftop bar, pool and cabana in town, it’s shaping up to be the new go-to sip spot for those visiting Byron Bay. Plus, it’s said to have some pretty spectacular views of the beach.
