TWE Urban Climb, West End

West End’s Urban Climb celebrates its tenth birthday

Light the candles and prepare your ‘hip, hip, hoorays’ as Brisbane’s largest indoor rock-climbing gym celebrates one decade of scaling and scampering in West End.

The topography of West End has transformed dramatically over the past ten years; apartment developments have shot up by the river’s edge, new bars and cafes have sprouted in the backstreets and some of our old favourites have closed for business. But one icon has stood the test of time on Montague Road, offering a space for locals to come together and test their strength and courage any night of the week. This month Brisbane’s largest indoor rock-climbing gym Urban Climb is celebrating its tenth birthday, throwing a party for the regulars and giving the procrastinators all the more reason to try something new.

The themed Rock Stars party on Friday March 28 invites you to don your most ridiculous rock-star costume, lather your face in paint and climb the epic, decorated walls to the sounds of DJs and general merriment. The venue will also host a family fun day on Saturday March 29 with climbing activities for children and a social climbing competition, as well as a barbecue and the obligatory birthday cake. Boasting Australia’s first free-standing arch climbing wall, 60 top ropes and more than 250 different routes, Urban Climb can cater to a range of fitness levels, from those of us who haven’t laced up a pair of runners in decades to the most fiery of fitness addicts.
