UNFIT RUNNING and FREND team up for a slick streetwear collab

One of Brisbane’s biggest run clubs and a cutting-edge creative studio are teaming up on a must-cop clothing drop. To celebrate the collaboration’s release, UNFIT RUNNING and FREND will be hosting a pop-up event in a secret location on Saturday July 20, complete with DJs, pizza and bar and live graffiti demonstrations. Here’s what we know …

In the dark days of the pandemic, when one of the only ways we could leave the house was for exercise, UNFIT RUNNING – or Unfit Run Club, as it was known then – was a bright spot in our weekly routine. Created as a weekly social gathering with the purpose of getting bodies moving via a five-kilometre run, UNFIT RUNNING also looked to help local cafes by making the start and finish line a different coffee joint each week. Over the months, UNFIT RUNNING blossomed into a popular social event, with scores of joggers turning out weekly to socialise and sip. Now regarded as an OG of Brisbane’s heaving run club scene (with splinter groups on the Gold Coast and in Sydney) UNFIT is blossoming into a powerhouse brand unto itself.

This month, UNFIT RUNNING will launch a new streetwear collection made in partnership with the crew behind FREND – a creative studio that has created content for the likes of Footlocker, Domino’s Australia, Taco Bell Australia and Baskin-Robbins Australia. The collaborative drop includes a 400-GSM fleeced unisex hoodie and a 280-GSM heavyweight 100-percent cotton vintage-style tee. To celebrate this release, the brands will be hosting a pop-up shop event from 4:00–8:00 pm on Saturday July 20 at a secret location to be revealed to ticket holders on the day. In addition to a first look at the apparel, the event will also feature a relaxed 20-minute run, followed by DJ sets, beers and pizza, live graffiti, a polaroid booth and art installations inspired by the collection. Take note – the clothing collection is exclusive to the launch party and is expected to sell out on the night! Tickets to the pop-up are free, but RSVPs are essential.
