Lenko x Erstwilder collaboration raises funds for endangered animals
Hang an orangutan around your neck or slap a bilby on your bod to help raise much-needed funds for the Wilderness Society.
A limited-edition range of sweaters and accessories come bearing gifts for both the wearer and the subject via the Lenko x Erstwilder collaboration. Crafted in Melbourne by two creatively gifted labels, the endangered animals collection sees $2 from every brooch and $10 from every jumper donated to the Wilderness Society. The designers bonded over a shared love of animals and comparable creative process, both layering their materials of choice to create heavily textured end products. Brooch masters Erstwilder manipulate resin, while Lenko works with fabric to produce wearable works of art.
The collaboration saw Ertswilder enlist local artist Jess Racklyeft to produce 15 endangered animal illustrations, before Lenko transformed four of the designs into sweaters using her famed hand-cut appliqué and embroider technique. Bilbies, Galapagos penguins, pangolins and blue whales feature on sweaters, while bumblebees, red pandas, Sumatran tigers and more have been crafted into accessories.
