Play on – Hijinx Hotel is bringing its immersive game room experience to Brisbane

Funlab, the zany squad behind fantastical entertainment concepts such as B. Lucky & Sons, Archie Brothers Cirque Electric and Holey Moley Golf Club, is set to debut its most immersive concept in Brisbane next month. Hijinx Hotel will open at Westfield Chermside on Friday March 31, unveiling an immersive wonderland boasting game rooms, a New-York hotel themed bar and a kitchen dispensing delectable bites. Here’s what you can expect …

Who said play time was just for kids? Not the Funlab team, that’s for sure. The purveyor of innovative experiential concepts boasts a portfolio filled with mini-golf bars, new-age arcades and bowling-alley-meets-karaoke-bar hybrids. Hijinx Hotel, Funlab’s newest Instagrammable winner, has already caused a stir in Sydney and on the Gold Coast and soon Brisbane will be able to get in on the zany action. This is no ordinary hotel – there are no overnight stays, just rooms upon rooms of quick-play challenges designed for groups of two to six players undertake together. Rooms are filled with life-sized pianos, ball pits, basketball hoops and giant scrabble boards, with a four-minute window allocated to complete each puzzle. This newest Hijinx Hotel will feature two experiences exclusive to Brisbane, including a submarine-themed room where guests try to sink ships for points, and a nostalgia-inducing newcomer that sees guests solve cartoon puzzles featuring their favourite childhood characters.

In between games, guests can make for Hijinx Hotel’s New-York hotel themed bar, where a selection of photo-worthy shareable cocktails await. Using your brain is hunger-inducing work, but luckily an on-site kitchen will punch out a range of appetising eats. You’ll be able to chomp on smoked beetroot Reubens and chicken burgers, or share pepperoni pizzas, boneless chicken wings and corn ribs with your friends. Hijinx Hotel will open at Westfield Chermside next to Holey Moley Gold Club at the end of March.
