TWE WWF Footprint Calculator

Calculate your personal ecological footprint

Those clever cats at WWF have built an online resource to help us do the maths and calculate the impact our actions are having on this big old ball we live upon.

Are you guilty of leaving all your house lights on when you head out for the night? Do you leave the tap running when you brush your teeth? Are you constantly forgetting your reusable shopping bags and instead opting for plastic? These may seem like fairly harmless acts, but add them all up, and multiply them by 23 million, and that’s a fair amount of wastage. According to independent conservation organisation WWF, Australia has one of the world’s largest ecological footprints per capita, with the average household emitting around 14 tonnes of greenhouse gases each year.

For those of us who need a little extra push to get the eco-friendly habits forming, click along to WWF’s Footprint Calculator and work out how your actions are personally affecting the earth. Once you’ve processed the numbers, see what measures you can take to reduce your impact and help spread the word.
