Hallelujah! Sinfully supreme Sister Act homage Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves is coming to Brisbane Powerhouse

Do you ever watch a movie and find yourself with a new-found pep in your step as the credits roll? That’s how we feel after watching much-loved film Sister Act, the Whoopi Goldberg masterpiece that is guaranteed to have you bopping in your seat. An homage to the 90s classic is making its way to Brisbane Powerhouse this July, for a sinfully supreme showcase that sees some of Australia’s best get back in the habit.

Raise your hands and shout hallelujah – The Little Red Company’s Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves is returning to Brisbane! This sensational homage to Sister Act sees shining stars and original cast Prinnie Stevens, Angela Fabian, Irena Lysluk and Alisha Todd reunite, as they bring toe-tapping brilliance and honey-like vocals to Brisbane Powerhouse from July 26–29. A celebration of sisterhood, redemption and individuality, this homage to the heartwarming 90s flick sees a showcase of reimagined hits from the Whoopi Goldberg classic, such as ‘Joyful Joyful’, ‘I Will Follow Him’ and ‘Oh Happy Day’, arranged by acclaimed Queensland vocalist Alex Van den Broek, with live backing by The Little Red Company’s in-house band.

While being masters of their craft individually, the leading ladies’ on-stage presence only shines brighter when in each other’s company, with Prinnie’s diva-queen ways complementing Alisha’s gentle sensitivity, and Angela’s strength and vulnerability meeting Irena’s golden-girl goof. Who to give thanks to for this revelling reunion you ask? That would be The Little Red Company’s founders and certified hit makers, Naomi Price and Adam Brunes. While honouring the film’s celebration of diversity and inclusion, the company breathes new life into the hit soundtrack that offers a blended taste, catering both for generations that grew up with the singing legion of nuns, and those who are experiencing it for the first time. This extraordinary homage is a reminder to stand tall, sing loud and most of all, do it for yourself.

The ladies are taking centre stage at Brisbane Powerhouse from July 26–29, with an Auslan interpreted and an audio described performance on Saturday July 29. Grab your sisters, and purchase your ticket to this standout performance at The Little Red Company website.
