> < R&J reworks a classic at La Boite Theatre
> < R & J (Greater Than Less Than Romeo Ampersand Juliet) will breathe new life into Shakespeare’s age-old tale at La Boite’s Roundhouse Theatre from Wednesday November 13.
With no less youthful drama, violence, lust and tragedy than the original play intended, La Boite Indie and The Breadbeard Collective present >< R & J (Greater Than Less Than Romeo Ampersand Juliet), running until Saturday November 30. Re-invigorating the unfortunate tragedy of the world’s best-known star-crossed pair, the energetic performance is set to remind audiences of the story’s original themes, albeit in a newly imagined way.
Lucas Stibbard leads a cast of some of Brisbane’s strongest emerging artists in the contemporary retelling, reconstructing the infamous lovers’ legend. The story warns audiences of the bloody consequences that occur when the ten young performers gather to play, dance, fight, kiss and talk.
