Get excited for the launch of Netflix Australia on March 24

The moment many have been waiting for has finally arrived – Netflix is about to launch in Australia and with it comes a bevy of exciting original content to jump straight into.

Netflix is undeniably one of the most popular services to hit the television world in the past decade. The shift from conventional television viewing to streaming services is picking up momentum and Netflix has been at the forefront of this change since the beginning. The service primarily offers users the ability to watch and replay (and replay again, if desired) their favourite television shows on their PC, laptop or tablet device.

Australia is set to be the latest country to obtain Netflix when it launches Down Under on Tuesday March 24, but there is still a shroud of mystery as to what programs will be readily available to watch upon launch. While there will assuredly be a few surprises for early adopters, a number of shows have been named that can be watched immediately. Netfllix has an abundance of original content that will be available, most notable of which is the award-winning series House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey. Other quality shows available at launch will be the gritty drama Bloodline, starring Australia’s Ben Mendelsohn, 13th century epic Marco Polo, quirky comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and animated satire Bojack Horseman.

While not set to be available at launch, Netflix Australia will also be premiering new shows in the coming months, including the action-packed Marvel’s Daredevil, science fiction drama Sense8, American comedy series Grace and Frankie plus numerous documentaries and specials. Unfortunately, Netflix Australia will still operate under current licensing agreements, meaning that favourites such as Orange Is The New Black will still only be available on Foxtel. Netflix will be available on all major Australia broadband operators.
