The humble beanbag enjoys an eco-friendly facelift
Those of you who can remember slumping in a beanbag – or chasing after its unruly styrofoam filling – throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s, will be charmed by the latest local invention to hit the market.
Enjoy a flashback to the 1970s with an ethical new product that turns unwanted clothing into furniture. Designed and created by a local Brisbane artist, JEANBAG takes pairs of old jeans headed towards landfill and repurposes them into innovative, adult-sized beanbag covers.
After growing up in a house with no waste, founder KT Doyle created the first JEANBAG prototype for Brisbane City Council’s Tip Shop Competition last year. Following the design’s success, JEANBAG has now worked its way on to the market, with the handmade local creations available online alongside decorative denim bunting.
