French Fragonard fragrances exclusive to Du Monde

Up the winding Moyenne Corniche, between Nice and Monaco, suspended above the sea, stands a golden parfumerie.

Seduced by the magic of perfume, Eugène Fuchs set up Parfumerie Fragonard in 1926, named after the Grasse-born painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard as a tribute to the refined arts of the 18th century. Passed down to each generation, Fragonard has remained a family business, adapting and evolving its distinct scents as the market expands.

While the French ‘noses’ scoff as foreign women are drawn to the popular fragrance Etoile, its woody, floral scent with citrus notes is unlike anything available back home. Inspired by the brooches worn by ladies of Provence – known at the stars of Digne – Etoile and other Fragonard scents are available in Brisbane exclusively at Paddington’s Du Monde. This Francophile, timeless design and homewares boutique, run by interior designer Daryl Wark, has allowed Brisbane ladies (and lads – try the F! cologne) to add a touch of quintessential Riviera grace to their daily routine.
