Surfwear gets stylish with Saturdays Surf NYC
Brisbane is a little bit like New York. Well, in the sense that neither cities have a beach but there still seems to be a lot of like-minded fellows purchasing boardshorts for trips to the seaside nonetheless.
Being a surfer in New York is pretty rare. You have to take the subway to the beach and back with your board in tow – it’s a bit of a struggle, even for the sunrise-wave diehards.
But the chaps over at Saturdays Surf NYC have created a space (and a stylish surfwear range) to support this growing community.
You can chat about the waves on the deck out the back of their Soho-based store – the hidden oasis of a garden is a great escapism from the busy city streets, with the Saturdays crew serving up its own blend of La Colombe coffee.
Launched in 2009 with a collection of surfboards and wetsuits, Saturdays has expanded to designing high-quality menswear, capturing the distinct attitude of a globally aware New Yorker who loves surfing, through slight nautical tones and preppy Hamptons style.
