Dress for the ranch with Arabella Ramsay’s Apple of My Isle

With her eclectic use of delicate fabrics and feminine prints, Arabella Ramsay is the sweetheart of Australian design.

After a youth spent kicking it with nature on her family’s farm, surrounded by creative types, it’s no wonder Arabella formed a fashion career that takes inspiration from Australia’s landscape. Her creative drive was honed by a family of talent – dad is an illustrator, mum a skilled seamstress and her brother a photographer. After moving city-side to study textile design at RMIT, Arabella spent time in Paris before forming the beginnings of her own label. She then opened her flagship store in 2006 in Melbourne and is now stocked at numerous boutiques and stores throughout the country.

Arabella’s latest collection is her autumn/winter range, entitled Apple of My Isle. The range is a mixture of Anne of Green Gables and modern bohemia, thanks to the whimsical textures and girlie shapes that abound. The warm palette and textured knits are a great solution to brightening up the dullest of winter days. The designs also delight with the charming vintage edge present – pull-on printed leggings that cleverly clash with crochet sweaters and mustard frocks. Most importantly for animal-lovers is the swoon-worthy illustrated Feral Animal Print that features an array of quirky creatures on skirts, shirts and pants.

Arabella Ramsay is available at Myer, Brisbane City and online.
