Coffee and vinyl collide at Foundry Records

The Foundry has continued its evolution by adding a hip new space on it’s ground floor. Foundry Records boasts racks of vinyl, great coffee, cold beer and a cool, rustic vibe.

When The Foundry closed for repairs in early 2015, the ownership group saw it as an opportunity to add new elements to the establishment to further fulfil its goal of making The Foundry one of the best spots for music lovers in Brisbane. Work began on turning the empty space on the ground floor into a haven for Fortitude Valley wanderers, thus Foundry Records was born. One part record store, one part cafe and bar, Foundry Records is a cool and airy space that boasts exposed brick walls, raw and sanded floor boards and warm lighting. Along one side of the space is a bar and coffee counter that serves up fresh cups of Blackstar Coffee and specialty teas from West End Tea Co., as well as a neat range of beer cans and stubbies, house wines and basic spirits, which are available after 10:00 am. Those looking for something to nibble on can choose from a selection of pastries and breads from Le Sebastian Bakery.

After you grab your coffee, why not browse the selection of vinyl, CDs and DVDs available in Foundry Records’ other half. Shelves are filled with a curated selection of albums from a range of genres. Current releases sit next to classic records, as well as an offering of local recordings. Foundry Records also sells a range of music publications and independent zines. The space comes fully equipped with a stage and high-quality PA system for in-store gigs and events, which will occur with regularity. Foundry Records endeavour to support the local community, choosing to offer local artistic endeavour and goods from Brisbane-based food producers.
