Alma Surfers Paradise

It’s said that change is as good as a holiday and after several years delighting diners with its toothsome array of Mexican morsels, Gringo Loco Cantina has unveiled a brand-new look and a new name to match its chic new aesthetic. Taco lovers, say hello to Alma Surfers Paradise. Alma has branched into breakfast to deliver an all-day dining offering that can take you from early morning right through to post-dinner tipples and dessert. Meaning ‘soul’ in Spanish, a nod to the building in which it resides, Alma’s new daytime selection is filled with classics including sweet corn fritters topped with smashed avo, sour cream, crisp halloumi, charred corn salsa, poached egg and burnt cucumber chilli jam alongside dishes infused with Mexican flavour, dishes such as the brekkie burrito and the tequila-cured Atlantic salmon with Pico de Galo, guac, beets, alfalfa, poached egg and crispy corn tortilla chips. For those with a sweet tooth, the Nutella-stuffed French toast is every bit as delicious and decadent as it sounds. Come 11:00 am, the menu flips to give diners a familiar taste of the old Gringo Loco they know and love. You’ll find old favourites including flame-grilled corn dusted with smoked paprika, ricotta and lime and jalapeno poppers alongside more substantial bites such as nachos, burritos quesadillas and tacos in a myriad of mouth-watering flavours. There is also a scattering of new additions including a crisp soft-shell crab taco, Pacific Ale-lobster taco and Black Angus steak with chimichurri, corn and slaw that have taste buds tingling with anticipation.
