Let’s be honest, maintaining the cost of a recreational vehicle kind of sucks the fun somewhat. Between regular servicing and rego, it can be a bit of a drag. Rolling Playgrounds is a brand-new campervan hire company based on the GC that is designed to connect adventure seekers with an automobile that meets their needs. The company was created by Dan Folkes, who has been running bars and restaurants for the past seven years across Sydney and the Gold Coast. While the seven-year itch is commonly associated with relationships, it was about this point that Dan decided he needed to take a break from the hospitality game, bought a van and got lost (on purpose) rolling around northern New South Wales for a little while. Upon his return to reality, he tried to sell it but, as it turns out, he’d become pretty attached to his home on wheels and decided to list it on Camplify so that others may experience the same joy he had. Pretty quickly it became apparent that one van was not enough, so he bought another, and another.

Rolling Playgrounds’ fleet includes three vans that each sleep two and are kit out with everything you could need for a road trip including a feather-soft mattress, basic cooking facilities, camping chairs and a fold-out table. For first-timers, the O.G. is perfect as it’s compact (read: easy to park) but has the essentials covered including a coffee machine at the push of a button. Cub is a little more elaborate in its set up but if you’re keen to go all out, you want the big boy Wolf, which is fully equipped for off-grid living. This beast is everything you could want or need in a van and runs off rooftop solar panels. Rolling Playgrounds is a dream come true for Dan who gets to use his hospitality skills building and maintaining relationships while connecting people with the adventures of their dreams. The best part?
