Build your own Loog guitar

If you’ve got some extra time on your hands over the Christmas period, give Netflix a rest and try your hand at building your very own Loog guitar. Unlike a conventional six-stringed guitar, the Loog only has three, making it a cinch to build and great for beginners.

If ‘learn to play guitar’ has made it on to your list of New Year’s resolutions since you were six years old, it’s time to take the bull by the horns and cross it off once and for all. Sure, you could pick up a regular six string and struggle to wrap your hand around the fret and give up before you’ve even begun or you could order yourself a DIY Loog guitar kit and give yourself a fighting chance. The problem with regular six-stringed guitars is that they can be overwhelming for little hands and beginners, the Loog only has three so it’s easier to learn, tune and play.

The idea for the new-fangled three-string was conceived at a New York University in 2010 and successfully funded via Kickstarter the very next year. Loog Guitars is on a mission to make it fun and easy for everyone to play music, so while you may not become the next Jimi Hendrix overnight, you can still have some fun and learn a few things in the process. And the fact that you built it with your very own hands just adds to the satisfaction. Go on, you’ve got this.
