Function meets playfulness in Notwaste eco planter

Intriguing planters can be hard to come by. Occasionally you may stumble upon a vintage gem while trawling antique stores, but, for the avid indoor gardener, feeling that rush of excitement from discovering the perfect stand is few and far between.

Mexican furniture company Notwaste perhaps had these greenhouse-making conundrums in mind when it collaborated with designer Emilio Zavala on SPIRA – a multifunctional stand made from certified oriented strand board. Warm and earthy, the SPIRA stand artfully balances playfulness with functionality, easily adapting from a magazine or pot stand to nestling wine bottles and glasses for an impromptu carpet picnic.

Founded by Mexican designer Kristian Almonte and Italian designer Attanasio Mazzone in 2012, Notwaste applies its non-wasteful concept throughout a product’s design process, from inception to retailing. Collaborating with designers from around the world, the company focuses on creating desirable pieces that maintain functionality and resourcefulness.
