The Hill-Side

New season styles from Brooklyn-based The Hill-Side

Creating ties and scarves that make you forget that shiny, pointy-edged silk ties ever existed is Brooklyn-based label The Hill-Side. Founded in 2009, The Hill-Side is the creation of brothers Emil and Sandy Corsillo, who are also the founders and owners behind Hickoree’s Hard Goods store in the ever-cool Brooklyn burrow.

Handcrafting ties, scarves, handkerchiefs, bandanas and pocket squares from raw, muted-tone fabrics, The Hill-Side infuses its accoutrements with character and uncommonality. Raw, heavy-duty fabrics are sourced mostly from Japan, including canvas, cottons, chambray and selvage denim, with the fabrics then formed into clean, uncomplicated designs in the US. Narrow ties boast square ends over the traditional triangle, with some knitted numbers also sneaking into the mix.

The brand’s latest fall/winter collection has just been released, with the lookbook sporting The Hill-Side’s usual style of simple, homegrown imagery. From Munich and Toronto to Sydney and Seoul, disposable cameras were shipped off to dozens of stores around the world for the shop kids to take photos of their friends wearing The Hill-Side goodies. Check out the lookbook online or head to Dirtbox in the Wintergarden to handle the new season in the flesh.
