The Zoo, Fortitude Valley

A birthday bash to remember when The Zoo turns 20

What’s a birthday without a party to celebrate? About to turn the ripe old age of 20, local music mecca The Zoo is indulging itself with a distinctly unique whimsical jaunt for its friends and fans in ode to its latest milestone.

In 1992, The Zoo opened amongst the mish-mash arena that was formerly a slightly shady Fortitude Valley. Since then it has become one of Brisbane’s most beloved venues, a cavern of marked floorboards, walls laden with scrapbook-style posters and (most importantly for some visitors) a group of beloved pool tables.

To celebrate the milestone achievement of reaching 20 and still retaining its original cool, The Zoo will celebrate with a birthday party of sorts – a gig with a plentiful line-up of local bands. On Saturday December 15 you can join for the evening a slew of local treasures including Katie and Tyrone Noonan, Danny Widdicombe, The Predators, Regurgitator and MC Dom Miller. Doors will open from 7:30 pm to welcome revellers hungry to enjoy the musical offerings the venue is famous for. Bands will play well into the morn, with the final act not due to depart until 2:00 am.
