Brisbane Writers Festival is about to return to our fair city, bringing some of the world’s most talented literati with it – and The Weekend Edition is excited to be partnering with the festival once again in 2018. Featuring more than 150 writers, thinkers and opinion makers, the program will dish up a scholarly smorgasbord of presentations, workshops and discussions for you to devour. This year’s offering features once-in-a-lifetime events including a pre-festival dinner with The Devil Wears Prada author Lauren Weisberger at Gerard’s Bistro, who will share her new book When Life Gives You Lululemons. For Divergent fans there will be a one-off cosplay-themed event with the trilogy’s New York Times bestselling author, Veronica Roth. If you’ve always been curious about where the characters of Trainspotting would be today, Irvine Welsh will be there to share what Mark and Sick Boy are up to now and talk about his new book Dead Men’s Trousers.
As well as offering plenty for the avid reader, there will loads for aspiring writers to sink their teeth into, including a talk with Eggshell Skull author Bri Lee and editor Kate Goldsworthy, and immersive workshop sessions such as writing for young people, journaling for better writing and crafting contemporary fiction.
