Zoe Davis, Musician, Cub Sport
Sleep is the only real essential ...
It takes a certain kind of girl to hold her own amongst the boys. But Cub Sport bassist and vocalist Zoe Davis is certainly the dame for the job, having played alongside her four male bandmates and shaken up stages across Europe, Southeast Asia and Australia for the past two years. The Cub Sport story begins with hit single ‘Evie’, which earned the indie-pop five-piece serious airplay and a spot on the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival bill. Jump to 2013 and the Brisbane band has not only released two massive EPs, but also rattled up enough media attention to incite the Scouts Association of Australia to request a name change from former moniker, Cub Scouts. Cub Sport will be hitting the road under its new name for the first time this September, playing to a home crowd at The Hi-Fi and the 2013 BIGSOUND conference. The Weekend Edition caught up with Zoe to talk inspirations and weekend essentials.
