Lachlan McAulay, Circus Performer, Judith Wright Centre
You’re only as good as your last performance ...
Many children dream of running away to join the circus, but only a few actually embark on this adventure. Starting his circus career in the Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Lachlan McAulay has handstanded and tumbled his way from regional Victoria to Aichi, Japan. Not only has the circus arts granted Lachlan the opportunity to perform in theatres, festivals and for companies all across Australia and Europe, but also delivered excitement and teaches discipline, something he now instills in those he teaches. One part of Brisbane’s new contemporary circus company Casus, Lachlan takes to the Judith Wright Centre stage this weekend with Casus’ Knee Deep. Exploring the boundaries of strength and tenderness, Knee Deep morphs thrilling physical feats with acts of intimacy in a bold display of circus skill. The Weekend Edition caught up with Lachlan between rehearsals to discover the hidden wonders of his weekends.
