Jonathon Oxlade, Performer, School Dance

Relaxing company and heaps of laughs ...

A story of a triumphant nerd will conquer the heart of anyone who was half-skilled with a calculator back in school days. Award-winning performance School Dance is showing at Brisbane Powerhouse until Saturday August 3, luring both teens and anyone who has ever been a teenager into its comical grasp. Power ballads of the 1980s, big hair and bad dance moves combine in the story of three semi-invisible geeky teenage boys who attend their school dance looking for love and adventure. Passionate crushes and awkward kisses ensue, with School Dance capturing both the ecstatic happiness and pitiful desperation that accompanies a hormone-powered existence. The cast includes Jonathon Oxlade, who is also the set and costume designer for the show. Before School Dance opened this week, the ex-Brisbane lad took time out from rehearsals to chat weekend essentials with The Weekend Edition.
