Heather Corkhill, Rambling Women Media
Be yourself, everyone else is already taken – Oscar Wilde
As a child, Heather Corkhill would dress up with a bunch of friends and make horror films, the fake blood causing fits of giggles amongst the young ‘actors’ and parents to worry about their washing baskets. Finding her niche creating drama films and documentaries while studying film and television at QUT, Heather’s first feature-length documentary will show at the Brisbane Queer Film Festival to local audiences for the first time this weekend. An independent production, self-produced by Rambling Women Media, The Cure is a revealing and intimate exploration of the influence of faith on emerging sexuality. Through a series of interviews, the film reveals the secrecy that shrouds the current ‘ex-gay’ movement in Australian churches. The Weekend Edition caught up with Heather in the lead up to her film’s Brisbane premiere to discover her essentials for a well-spent weekend.
