Adele Frost, Model, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival
Explore what you love and what makes you feel fulfilled and happy ...
Adele Frost manages to juggle studying marketing at university, designing for her menswear label Friends of the Heart and being a full-time model – this year adding the title of Face of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane to her resume. The versatility of this 24-year-old local lady extends not only to her various creative outlets, but also within modelling, working across commercial and editorial shoots, as well as on the runway. Having dabbled in modelling since she was a little girl, Adele was picked up by Dallys Models at 17 and has never looked back. Now channelling her business and fashion knowledge into label Friends of the Heart with partner Tyron Simon, Adele creates men’s button-ups in bright, loud vintage prints, with the pair moving into printed chinos and jackets for summer. The Weekend Edition caught up with Adele before she glides down the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival this weekend.
How do you like to start your weekend?
I like to start my weekend by doing something totally relaxing like watching movies in bed with the electric blanket on when it’s winter, or having a glass of wine with a close friend.
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning?
Walking up Mount Coot-tha or a game of tennis.
How do you like to unwind?
A trip to the coast or sewing.
What are your essentials for a well-spent weekend?
Bikini (that means I’m off to the beach) and a face mask (love that purifying feeling it gives you).
What’s something you’ve been meaning to do on the weekend but haven’t got around to yet?
I’ve been meaning to paint my mannequin for a while and draw some more pictures for the empty frames in my room, but you have to be in the right mood for these things.
What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday evening?
Eat pasta.
What are you looking forward to next weekend?
Definitely Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival.
What are you reading at the moment?
I’ve always got a few books on the go at the same time – fiction and non-fiction. On the fiction side I’m reading The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh and then there’s my non-fiction Services Marketing and Marketing Research.
What inspires you?
Love – I’m a hopeless romantic … And art in all types and forms – fabrics, fashion, paintings.
What was your childhood dream?
To be a model.
What has been your greatest achievement?
There have been a few, but being the face of MBFF has been up there. I’m also very proud of my label, Friends of the Heart.
What is success to you?
Success is being in a space where you are totally happy with where you are in life. It is a very individual experience and will mean different things to different people.
What are your words of wisdom?
Explore what you love and what makes you feel fulfilled and happy. That’s what you should put your energy into because that will give you knowledge and growth.
