Woody Point Marketplace – Opening Soon

Moreton Bay continues to flourish in 2022 as an area on the rise, with the forthcoming launch of multifaceted food and art hub Woody Point Marketplace set to raise the bar for local hospitality even further. Woody Point Marketplace is the brainchild of Shaneal Sharma, who has envisioned the concept as a community-centric locale for food, art, music and fashion that will help firmly establish the seaside suburb as a hotspot worth exploring. After taking over the strip of shops (which has sat on the corner of King Street and Alfreda Street since 1948) earlier this year, Shaneal recruited a host of local tradespeople to help refresh the precinct’s externals. A recently completed 90-day beautification process has resulted in a crisp and contemporary makeover of the facade and now work is beginning on the internal refurbishment, with a handpicked list of artisan hospitality operators lined up to debut at Woody Point Marketplace before Christmas. This roster has been curated to ensure that all major culinary boxes were ticked, creating a sustainable epicurean ecosystem that will hopefully resonate with locals and visitors alike. The first wave of openings will include new locations for Shaneal’s own Italian-inspired gelato and dessert powerhouse oh’Gelato, as well as a cafe from the team behind beloved Sandgate brunch and specialty coffee spot Capulet & Co. Also joining the Woody Point Marketplace ranks will be Roman-style slice slinger Eat Pizza Co and Wine Blvd, a hidden wine bar serving drops from other famous peninsula-based growing regions from around the globe. In addition to all of this, half an acre of space at the rear of the building is being transformed into a farmers garden dedicated to growing seasonal fruit, vegetables and herbs to be used by Woody Point Marketplace operators. Following the launch of the first wave, Shaneal and his team will look to add a Mexican-inspired concept, a chocolatier and a grocer hawking cheeses and small goods added to the list of tenants. Shaneal will be tapping into his background as a successful recording artist to add a creativity-focused aspect to Woody Point Marketplace. Frequent activations will see stages erected for pop-up performances from local musicians in the adjacent laneway, with fashion and beauty also expected to feature amongst the venue’s retail offering. Furthermore, community will be a top-line focus for Woody Point Marketplace, which will be liaising with local schools to offer educational programs to students eager to extend their skillset to hospitality. Masterclasses from guest curators and industry professionals will also be on offer to the general public, ranging from cooking classes to baking sessions. Stay tuned for more on Woody Point Marketplace as we’ll be taking a closer look in the coming months!
