Morningside’s Where the Wolves Eat is a charming eatery sandwiched between Carolina Kitchen and Lick! Ice-Cream on Wynnum Road. The concept comes from the minds behind storied hospitality gems such as Leaf Espresso and Habitat Restaurant & Bar, and boasts a down-to-earth approach to all-day dining. The menu includes the likes of cacio e pepe spaghetti with grana padano, pecorino and poached eggs, Swiss brown mushrooms with white bean and kale stew and herbed cashew cheese, crispy pork belly with potato rosti and sweet-corn puree, and fried chicken French toast sandwiches with chipotle slaw. Coffee beans are exclusively supplied by emerging local roasting outfit Hardy Boys, while non-coffee drinkers can sip on organically brewed ginger beer, coldpress juice from Impressed, shakes, smoothies and frappes. Beer taps have been installed for those keen to blow the froth off a cold one, with the Balleymore Brew (a collaborative ale between Newstead Brewing Co and Queensland Rugby) offering a tasty mid-strength option.
