Uh Oh

Three things that are guaranteed to make us feel good? Pasta, cocktails and great music. Sure it’s not the most conventional combination, but trust us, it works. That sentiment is shared by the team at Uh Oh, a Bakery Lane institution that’s all about celebrating the good things in life. The two-level venue occupies the Ann Street-fronting heritage-listed site once home to The Apo, but these days it’s known for quick, fun and casual modern Italian eats as well as a stellar late-night atmosphere. Neon lights give the downstairs dining space a vibrant energy, with the kitchen slinging awesome antipasto (fried calamari, oven-baked brie and pea-and-mushroom arancini), primo house-made pasta (rigatoni caponata, pappardelle with duck ragu, tagliatelle with prawns and a classic spaghetti bolognese), and decadent desserts (think Tim Tam tiramisu and cannolis). On Friday and Saturday nights, the Uh Oh kitchen stays open beyond 10:30 pm to dish out half-price pizzas (including classic margherita, pepperoni and burrata and prosciutto) and cocktail specials. Local bands perform on Thursday night upstairs, giving gig lovers the chance to catch emerging artists in an intimate setting. A roster of stellar DJs keep the tunes coming until the wee hours, making Uh Oh’s a great spot for pre-party dinner, post-dance feed or a spot to make the most of your night from beginning to end.
