Walking through Pearl Cafe and up a wooden staircase, The Servery crafts a feeling of exclusivity and escapism. Visitors are transported into an unassuming space far removed from the downstairs humdrums, with smoke-stained walls, industrial ovens and stainless steel benches that carry the charm of a well-used farmhouse kitchen. The secrecy of the room and intimate atmosphere provides a unique dining experience. By day the space is used to make Pearl’s delightful preserves and prep for the dinner sitting, but come 5:00 pm, diners are free to order a drink and graze on charcuterie piled atop rustic wooden serving boards. Try the Duck Rillette served with warm, oil-drizzled slabs of bread and cornichons, or choose a plate from Pearl’s menu – though the chef usually has something special prepared exclusively for upstairs folk.
