The Garden Room
The Garden Room is a leafy eatery located in the heart of Roma Street Parkland. Operated by a trio of industry veterans, The Garden Room has been designed to appeal to all comers, from families and tourists to nearby residents and corporates. A light and airy interior boasts plenty of lush foliage (installed and maintained by the park’s green thumbs), with an exterior area perfect for sun-dappled feasting in view of the large grassy oval. The cafe’s menu foregrounds freshness and locality across its offering. Guests can start the day with hot-smoked Atlantic salmon with eggs or cinnamon-dusted doughnuts with ice-cream, grilled bacon and caffeinated maple syrup for brunch, or saunter in later for lunch bites including Young Henry’s beer-battered fish, buttermilk fried-chicken bun or zucchini blossom with preserved-lemon risotto. Toby’s Estate is the coffee supplier of choice, but the full beverage component includes teas, smoothies, juices, a curated wine list (pinot grigio is available on tap) and a revolving selection of craft and mainstream beers. The Garden Room will look to cater to functions with a variety of packages, and in the future will assist and support Roma Street Parkland’s various multicultural festivals.
The Sound Society
Taking place on the first Sunday of the month at the Banyan Lawn in Roma Street Parkland, The Sound Society promises a relaxed afternoon of live jazz and blues matched with delicious picnic bites. The Garden Room Café will be curating jam-packed picnic hampers, which will be full to the brim with a mouth-watering collection of fresh fare, including delicious crackers, home-made dips, cured deli meats and farmhouse cheeses to snack on. If you want to take your dining experience to the next level, book a VIP picnic space with your hamper to nab the best (and cutest) spot on the lawn.
