The Flying Cock

The perfect destination for a casual midweek pub feed or a leisurely weekend drinking session, The Flying Cock corner bar and bistro is the result of a collaborative effort between mates. Find a seat inside amongst the raw concrete and exposed bricks, or grab a table on the footpath for a spot of Brunswick Street people watching, and graze on share plates like grilled corn, popcorn chicken, deep-fried Picklehead pickles and jalapeno poppers. You’ll find craft and mainstream beers available on tap, by the bottle or even by tallie, or sup on a glass of wine or a fruit cocktail boasting freshly made juice. Not just an invitation for cheeky puns, The Flying Cock moniker is also a tip of the hat to the star of the menu, the humble chook. Roast chickens are treated to a glaze of Wild Turkey honey whisky and delivered dressed in flames to the table. Classic pub grub is taken up a notch, with beloved favourites like schnitzels and parmigianas served alongside fries and pear slaw, chicken burgers treated to a lashing of blue cheese, and hot chicken wings served wet or crispy with the house sauce. Weave your way to the upstairs bar where the spotlight is firmly on craft beer and whisky-based cocktails, while pizza from the downstairs bistro is also served in takeaway boxes. The house band brings quirky covers of classics from Britney through to Coolio every Saturday night, or make your way downstairs to keep the party going in the TBC nightclub.
