The Defiant Duck
The Defiant Duck is the latest instalment from the creative minds behind Gerard’s Bistro, Gerard’s Bar & Charcuterie and Laruche, who are spreading their wings across the other side of the Gasometer from sibling venue Hatch & Co. There is no denying that The Defiant Duck is conducive to drinking – as you walk in you’ll feel the urge to pull up a stool at one of the central high tables as you make your selection from the 24 craft and local beers on tap, or three wine taps if beer tends to ruffle your feathers. On weekdays, you can mosey up to the wide express coffee window, where The Defiant Duck is serving up an exclusive Bear Bones Espresso coffee blend, as well as takeaway breakfast and lunch options for those on the go. If you’d rather settle in for a long afternoon or evening of grazing, take a seat and let your mouth begin to water as you run your eyes over the menu. While the kitchen is certainly plating up American-style fare, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill burger and hotdog joint – The Defiant Duck has that certain finesse that the Moubment Group does so well. For lunch and dinner, select from dishes such as Coca-Cola wagyu beef ribs with mustard mayo and burnt shallots, mini corn dogs, mac ‘n’ cheese croquettes and fennel-cured pork crackling, or sashimi-style tuna salad. Come Saturday and Sunday, The Defiant Duck also serves up dine-in breakfast options in addition to its all-day menu.
