Taste is a popular kitchenware and home wares depository that was located on James Street for several years before relocating to Red Hill in July 2016. Housed within an old grocer – a building that is currently 140 years old – Taste evokes an old-school grocer vibe, combining cafe, pantry and retail space under one roof. The cafe offers a neat selection of light meals such as Caca Spanish sardines with Westmont Ghost Pickles, half bagels spread with homemade hummus, pies from Jocelyn’s Provisions, Crust and Co pastries, and a selection of salads. The general store portion stocks a range of dry goods, condiments, sauces, BNE Soda Co, Maleny dairies milk, cheese, meats, fruit and veg as well as fresh bread daily from Danny’s Bread. The retail section stocks a curated selection of crockery, saucepans, cooking utensils and electrical goods, plus wooden boards, Opinel knives and body products from Smith and Co.
