Taro’s Izakaya & Ramen

After relocating from its first space on Adelaide Street to a temporary locale in August 2015, fans of Taro’s Ramen rejoiced when the top-flight ramen concept opened a permanent spot at 480 Queen Street. Boasting a smart and sparse fit-out, Taro’s Izakaya & Ramen is the perfect spot for a bowl of the concept’s famed menu, which is headlined by the likes of Taro’s tonkotsu ramen, tsukemen, shio ramen, shoyu ramen and sides. At night, the menu expands to include a range of authentic and creative izakaya-style plates, with core menu items like mixed sashimi platters, vegan karaage, kakuni-style braised pork jowl, takoyaki, pork gyoza, and eggplant dengaku joined by a list of daily specials, which have included experimental options such as Rocky Point grouper karaage, homemade chicken jerky with shichimi mayo and Hokkaido scallop carpaccio. On the drinks front, Taro’s serves Suntory Premium Malts available off tap alongside a small selection of sakes, plum wines and vino from South Australian winery Petaluma Wine.
