The vivid style of America’s retro diner culture has been given a contemporary twist at Sue’s Burgers and Shakes – a chow spot located in Westfield Carindale’s Glasshouse dining precent. The concept comes from the crew at revered American-style eatery Wing Fix, who snagged the 210-sqm space (formerly home to Lord of the Wings) to establish a concept that allows the team to expand on its burger offering. Sue’s Burgers and Shakes is described as old school meets new school – expect a mish-mash of retro decor and a menu of juicy two-handers made with modern accents. The menu at Sue’s features a handful of fan-favourite Wing Fix specials as well as a smorgasbord of newly conceived hunger busters – think Biscoff-glazed smashburgers, mac ’n’ cheese burgers, southern fried chicken sandos, and a plant-based burger boasting a Beyond Meat patty. Sides include popcorn-chicken bites, loaded maple fries, onion rings and mac ’n’ cheese while a six-strong selection of thickshakes include crunchy Biscoff, salted caramelised Caramilk, peanut butter and Malteser flavours.
