There’s nothing better than getting your hands on a freshly baked loaf of bread – especially if it’s sourdough. Your homemade avocado on toast takes on a whole other character, and your grilled cheese sandwiches become gourmet with ease. Stone Artisan Bakers is one of Brisbane’s best sources for fresh, heavenly loaves of goodness, and inner-city locals jumped for joy when the bakery opened up a second location at Southpoint in the first half of 2017. The coveted range of stone-baked sourdough loaves and French and Italian breads are on offer (baked fresh at Stone Artisan Bakers Greenslopes location), while the kitchen at Southpoint has been given over to cake and pastry making. The front counter is filled with treats of all kinds, including tarts, cheesecakes and doughnuts, as well as savoury options including delicious gourmet pies. All ingredients are sourced locally, some even as close as the neighbouring Pantry on Grey. If you happen to swing by the early hours for a loaf, be sure to grab a cup of takeaway coffee while you are there.
