Sprout Artisan Bakery

Since its establishment 2014, Sprout has grown from small-scale upstart operating out of Food Connect’s Salisbury HQ to an in-demand wholesaler boasting a lengthy list of top-notch cafes on its distribution roster. For most of the bakery’s existence, fans could only source the brand’s artisanal goods from these eateries or directly from Sprout’s popular stall at the Rocklea markets, meaning many folks had to travel across town for a taste, but now pastry lovers can snag a treat from Sprout’s very own retail shop on the corner of James Street and Harcourt Street. A minimalist industrial-inspired interior serves to direct eyeballs to the assortment of sweet and savoury items in the brand-new pastry cabinet, while rustic loaves also sit within reach to one side. Sprout’s range of creamy egg-custard tarts, flaky croissants, bostocks, cardamom scrolls, seasonal-fruit and savoury breakfast danishes, cinnamon buns and crusty loaves of sourdough (handcrafted over a 24-hour period) are available, as is coffee from Surry Hills roaster Reuben Hills.
