Light-drenched cafe and homewares store Sorelle Eatery is owned and operated by a sisterly duo that comes from one of Brisbane’s most recognised hospitality families. Madeleine and Nastassia are the daughters of Mark and Narelle Tognini, owners of long-running Baroona Road icon Tognini’s Deli Cafe. Drawing upon their familial fondness for hospitality, Madeleine and Nastassia have created a dining space of their own, snagging a site on Hawken Drive for an Italo-inspired eatery and retail nook. Sorelle’s menu kicks off with all-day breakfast dishes like tiramisu cruffins with espresso syrup, polenta cornbread with avocado and poached eggs, and Sicilian chilli scrambled eggs with sobrasada and stracciatella sourdough. At lunch, the menu expands to include mortadella toasties with scamorza and mozzarella, saffron risotto with zucchini, pea and smoked ricotta, and veal cotaletta. The cafe is also pouring its own custom coffee blend alongside a tight menu of Australian and imported wines. The on-site retail section is where you’ll find a wide range of homewares, ceramics, children’s gifts and soft furnishings.
