Sichuan Bang Bang

Serving the traditional cuisine of the Sichuan province in south-west China is Kenmore restaurant Sichuan Bang Bang. Owner Renata Roberts has renovated the original 1968 Chinese takeaway shop to feature Chinese and custom-made furniture and a new kitchen, but maintaining the original signage above the store as a tribute to the locale’s history. Chinese rugs, vases and vintage lanterns from Shanghai and Chinese servingware form a refined, thoughtful interior. Try spicy dishes like Mapo Doufu – Sichuan bean curd with minced pork, beef or chicken, or the less spicy Cool Shredded Bang Bang Chicken with Shaoxing wine. Enjoy complimentary tea with your meal, with a choice of pu’er, jasmine or oolong.
