For a long time our Gold Coast friends had been taunting us with a place where your ultimate charcuterie board dreams come true – Salt Meats Cheese. Well, no longer shall we ever be forced to cry mozzarella-sized tears, because the Sydney-born food emporium finally made its way to Brisbane at the tail-end of 2017. Salt Meats Cheese is true charcuterie heaven, but what would you expect from a restaurant that started its life as an Italian providore? Salt Meats Cheese specialises in a fresh and light menu, inspired by the cuisine of Northern Italy. We’re talking fried prawns with calamari and fresh chilli and lime mayo, yellow fin tuna tartare with lemon soy sauce, spaghetti with fresh clams and mullet roe, quinoa and roasted pumpkin salad, house-made vanilla pannacotta, and a selection of red and white base (as well as vegan and gluten-free) pizzas. Pair that with a stellar drinks selection (the La Macelleria sorbet infused bellinis are a must try) and you’ve got a great drinking and dining destination to suggest for your next group hang or date night.
