Roti Place

Roti Place first burst onto the Brisbane foodie scene in 2015, dispensing quality Malaysian cuisine from its inner-city and West End locations. In 2019 the restaurant opened up a larger Brisbane City spot on Charlotte Street, giving the space a makeover, including a brighter interior aesthetic, a new colour scheme on the building’s exterior and a roti kitchen, where experts make the flaky flatbreads to order. The menu at Roti Place naturally starts with its namesake. Both savoury and sweet roti is available, served with the likes of curry chicken or rendang beef, filled with stringy mozzarella cheese or even homemade pandan-infused coconut jam. From there, the menu branches out into an array of iconic Malaysian street-food dishes that have been given some slight twists, from Hainanese chicken with rice, nasi lemak, char kuey teow, Malaysian fish curry, and butter-herb crab (the latter of which is caught fresh on the Gold Coast). The food is backed by a beverage list that features the likes of Malaysian iced teas, salted lemonade, hot teas and more. A forthcoming tap system will bring with it draught beers to go with a curated selection of wines.
