Quê Dining

The bayside suburb of Newport has experienced a boom in recent years, with retail and dining hub Newport Marketplace a focal point for some substantial growth. In 2022 the precinct welcomed Sì Baby and Sidonié Patisserie & Boulangerie to its midst, and mid-way through 2023 the roster of eateries expanded with the opening of Quê Dining. Owned and operated by the team behind cracking Paddington-based Vietnamese restaurant Ngon, Quê Dining brings a similar style of authentic Vietnamese cuisine (enhanced with some modern twists) to Newport Marketplace, with a menu of dishes inspired by the family recipes of owner Tuan Nguyen. Diners can expect a mix of Ngon favourites and new dishes, with signatures likeyellow curry with roast barbecue duck, slabs of wagyu beef swimming in dark soy caramel and twice-cooked pork belly lathered in sticky sauce. The bar dispenses Vietnamese-inspired cocktails and a lengthy list of wines, while a chef’s table will offer guests the chance to savour a special menu of Quê Dining delights. The space itself, while boasting a smaller footprint than Ngon, is able to seat just as many patrons. Tuan and his team have once again worked with KO & Co Architecture on the design, juxtaposing the blue waters of Newport’s canals with a forest-inspired aesthetic comprised of earthy tones like green and brown.
