Priorities

When you think of priorities, what springs to mind? For some, obtaining a good cup of coffee is the first order for the day. Others consider a sublime wine to unwind after a strenuous week an essential. Priorities, the new espresso and wine bar opening in Alderley in early April, will serve in both. The concept is the brainchild of two local hospitality heavyweights – Luke Reimers, owner of Fortitude Valley’s Mr Chester, and Jesse Williamson, top-flight barista, cocktail maker and current world champion title holder for the Licor 43 Baristas and Bartenders competition. The duo have been bouncing around the idea of opening a hybrid-style concept for a couple of years and now they’ve made it a reality within a cosy space on Samford Road, right next door to Namu Leather Goods. Priorities will boast an attractive interior featuring a neutral palette of ash cream accented by travertine bench tops. During the week Priorities will serve high-quality brews from Industry Beans through its custom Café Racer machine, as well as filter coffee and batch brew, cold drinks and an assortment of pastries and sandwiches. An on-site retail selection will showcase an assortment of natural Australian wines, including batches of Luke’s own vino. The team will also open on Friday and Saturday evenings for sit-down sips and small plates. Jesse and Luke are also eager to utilise Priorities as a curated event space, where creatives and like-minded hospitality industry members can host an assortment of innovative and exciting events. Priorities will officially open to the public on Saturday April 9. Check in for a more detailed look closer to launch!
