Ploughman is an effortlessly cool suburban bar, located in the quiet northern suburb of Alderley. The space boasts earthy tones and a utilitarian yet warm aesthetic with plenty of plywood, steel and concrete creating a sturdy but fashionable vibe. Based on the premise of ‘beer and pickles’, Ploughman combines great craft beer with a rustic food offering, informed by the pickling and fermenting culture that is popular in Canada. Ploughman’s food and drink offering is concise yet unique. The menu boasts two sizes of the Ploughman’s board, piled with meat, cheese, house made pickles and fig paste (the larger size board boasts more variants). Also on the menu are three sandwiches including a grilled cheese with rich Gruyere and house made sauerkraut, pastrami on rye with horseradish mayo and pickles on the side and the Ploughman sandwich. The bar is fitted with four taps, pouring a combination of Brisbane brews and an ever-changing selection of predominantly Australian beer, while the back bar is stocked with bottled and canned beers, boutique wines and small batch spirits.
