Ploughman is an effortlessly cool craft beer and natural wine bar, located on a side street on the fringe of Fortitude Valley. Formerly based in Alderley, this iteration of Ploughman is an interim home for the concept while a new space is being constructed on South Pine Road. The space boasts earthy tones and a utilitarian yet warm aesthetic with plenty of plywood, steel and concrete creating a sturdy but fashionable vibe. Originally founded on the premise of ‘beer and pickles’, Ploughman has expanded its offering to not only combine excellent craft beer, but also a selection of natural wines from Australian makers, gins and simple cocktails. A rustic food offering, informed by the pickling and fermenting culture that is taking hold across the world, includes charcuterie and cheese boards, a signature Ploughman’s board, piled with meat, cheese, pickles and olives, snacks like arancini and empanadas, and gourmet sandwiches including a gruyere grilled cheese, leg ham and cheese, toasted salami and cheese and a vegan-friendly cashew-cheese toastie.
