Pilgrim
Pilgrim at The Barracks on Petrie Terrace is the sibling restaurant to Fogata Latin Fusion, which operated on James Street between 2016 and 2020. The team unveiled the new digs in the latter months of 2021, showing off a new heritage-listed space that had been enhanced by a few Latin-American-inspired cosmetic touches. The 130-seat venue boasts interior and outdoor seating, with bar stools array in front of the 12-metre bar for those more inclined to pop-in for an impromptu drink. Pilgrim’s owners have sought to retain the essence of Fogata’s fiery personality, retaining much of the original menu while adding a few new dishes. Guests are free to curate their own meal from a selection of small plates or large dishes, or they can take in a greatest-hits offering via a couple of banquet-style menus. Must-try dishes include Pilgrim’s Hiramasa kingfish ceviche, prosciutto-wrapped jalapeño poppers, feijoada stew, Brazilian crab sliders, Maduro gnocchi and oysters. The bar offering includes a selection of cocktails, sangria, spirit flights, Latin-American wines and beers, while Five Senses coffee is served from an espresso window in the mornings. Pilgrim has launched a concise lunch menu featuring tacos, nachos, Brazilian-style shrimp curry, Argentinian choripan sandwiches and grilled-eggplant salad, while a breakfast service will be added in the near future.
