Peach Cafe

It can be hard to find a cafe that caters for mums and kids in equal measure, but pink-hued Peach Cafe in Auchenflower has nailed the right mixture. From the brains behind Kangaroo Point’s Little Smirk, Peach Cafe occupies a spacious building on Haig Street – one that has over the course of its life been a general store, antiques shop and cafe in turn. The interior has been given a sprucing, with a bright, fresh and airy aesthetic stretching from the street front to the newly upgraded outdoor dining space at the rear. Peach Cafe has a strong health and environmentally friendly focus. The menu is tight, but boasts something for all comers (and their respective dietary requirements). Crowd-favourite items like eggs on toast, avocado on sourdough and bircher muesli are always available with a few seasonal twists, though current show-stopping specialities include dulce de leche fondue with caramel custard and cinnamon churro dippers, bulgogi mushroom toast with miso shiitake mushrooms, po’ boy Benedicts, Tunisian-style baked eggs with harissa labneh and garlic pull-apart sub, and a fried-chicken burger with reaper buttermilk ranch. Peach Cafe’s own Much Love coffee blend is perfect for perk-ups, but the teddy bear hot chocolate (with an adorable chocolate bear for dipping) is cute enough to sway even the most ardent caffeine craver. Speaking of sweet stuff, it’s worth getting a vegan jam doughnut or Nutella lava cookie to go.
