Monty’s Bakehouse


While the name implies that baking is a specialty at Monty’s Bakehouse – and don’t get us wrong, it most certainly is – it’s much more than simply a bakery. If you manage to bypass the counter without devouring every delicious baked good in sight, you’ll notice a fully stocked bar, Newstead Brewing Co. beer taps and a breezy alfresco dining area offering a delectable selection of breakfast and lunch options, with dinner set to launch Friday and Saturday nights in late November 2017. Each day head baker Charissa Fraser and head pastry chef Susie Unwin (both ex-Jocelyn’s Provisions) create the plethora of baked goods, from artisan breads through to decadent sweet treats. If you care for something a little more substantial Monty’s menu is sure to satisfy, and you can pair your meal with a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, or Monty’s own house-blend coffee, which is roasted just metres away on Montague Road.
